| FAQS:
Compress Shield is a pure refrigeration lubricant that has two unique properties: A) it is negatively polarized so it has an attraction for metal surfaces and B) it conducts heat.
Compress Shield was invented by three scientists: Dr. Charles Wilkins, a former Dean of the Department of Metallurgy at the University of Alabama (deceased); Dr. Charles Thompson, a lead scientist for DuPont for 26 years (deceased); and Mr. Jack Hammack a lubrication expert (consultant to Compress Shield).
Compress Shield increases the efficiency of air-conditioning, refrigeration and heat-pump systems and protects the mechanical parts within the systems thereby saving energy, reducing maintenance problems and extending the life of the equipment. If you believe in protecting the environment, then this is one of the greenest products you can buy. |

This can be an initial reaction due to unfamiliarity with the product. We have contractors, hospitals, hotels, casinos and manufacturing plants that have been using the product for years. We will be glad to provide you with a list of references that you may contact. Many of the people now using and selling Compress Shield were initially skeptical of its efficacy when first introduced to the product. Lack of knowledge about the product is the main reason that some air conditioning companies do not endorse our product.
It has been certified by independent lab tests and independently field-tested by the Department of Energy. Besides the many clients that are using Compress Shield, the U.S. government has done tests on refrigerant oil additives and has proven that they are effective in saving energy.
Compress Shield will work in any type of air conditioning or refrigeration system. Because the heat pump and geothermal systems run year-round, the wear on the system will be greatly reduced. |

No, Compress Shield can only be purchased from a Compress Shield Sales Agent or an authorized distributor. If you would like to be sure you are working with a Compress Shield Sales Agent or authorized distributor, please contact us at sales@compressshield.com or 901-842-1005.
No, it will not void any manufacturer’s warranty.
Yes. A typical unit/compressor loses 2%-4% efficiency per year. Compress Shield will help maintain the system’s peak efficiency and its lubrication properties will reduce wear and tear, hence increasing the life of the unit/compressor. Older units tend to have oil built up within the system that robs them of efficiency. Compress Shield eliminates that in old systems and prevents it from developing in new systems. |

Compress Shield can alleviate your worries about the new 13 SEER standard and associated costs. Compress Shield will increase the life of a unit 2-5 years, thus helping delay the purchase of a new system until the cost of the new 13 SEER units have decreased. In addition, Compress Shield will increase the efficiency of your current unit, therefore saving you energy and money.

Compress Shield is a system lubricant and facilitates heat transfer, we have never known it not to work with any refrigerant and it has even been installed in systems that use ammonia and propane as a refrigerant. Compress Shield is compatible with most refrigerants. We recommend that you contact Compress Shield for any questions on compatibility.
Compress Shield has been tested and used with all major refrigeration oils – mineral oil, alkylbenzine, and POE. Before installing in a system with an oil other than those, the system should be reviewed by a Compress Shield engineer.
Yes, depending on the equipment, we recommend that oil levels and pressures be monitored for a period after the installation. Units that experience extreme oil migration may have a large amount of oil returning to the compressor. We also advise that the technician check the filter dryer on the next scheduled PM. Occasionally, trash in the system will migrate to the filter and the filter will require a change. These same circumstances may also lead to the saturation of filter driers also. |

No, Compress Shield is permanently in the system. If your system experiences a refrigerant leak, the loss of Compress Shield would be minor. If the oil is lost or requires replacement, then only a small amount of Compress Shield would be required. Please consult our technical department for the proper amount.
